Identify the binder family
Acrylic emulsions, alkyds, epoxies, polyurethanes and other resins represent different families. For alkyds, oil length is one useful distinction; for emulsions, the polymer family and application requirements help frame a request.
Compare documented properties
Ask for solids content, viscosity, carrier medium and the functional properties relevant to your system. Manufacturer technical documents must define proposed grade values. Similar family names do not mean direct formulation compatibility.
Define approval criteria
Include substrate and service environment, required documentation and any existing approved reference. Separate the technical evaluation from packaging, quantity and logistics negotiations. Keep confidential formulation information within the agreed supplier review process.
Procurement overview only. Consult the proposed manufacturer's documents for product-specific requirements.
